About

The Halifax Hotel, situated in the rural town of Halifax in Queensland, Australia, has been a cornerstone of the community since its establishment in 1881. The town itself was surveyed in 1885 and officially named Halifax in 1886, after Halifax Bay, which was charted by Lieutenant James Cook in 1770.

In August 2024, new owners Luke Penning and Joe Mikuletic took over the Halifax Hotel, receiving a warm welcome from the community. They have since undertaken renovations to refresh the hotel's ambiance and have plans to add a beer garden, outdoor entertainment areas, a wood fired smokehouse inc pizzeria, an outdoor bar, and a children's playground.

The Halifax Hotel continues to serve as a central gathering place, reflecting the town's rich history and its ongoing commitment to community and hospitality.
